While I haven't visited every place in Europe, I think I know for certain that Copenhagen, Denmark is one of the most beautiful/ coolest places ever! The Danish have so much style that I can relate to when mixing minimalism, street clothes, and high fashion. I was very surprised that Copenhagen had so many stylish people. But the reason I'm surprised is because I feel the town should have way more shine. It's definitely a hidden gem. It's much like the MidWest and East Coast where the people wear loads of black, minus the hardcore personality. In Copenhagen, the town runs smoothly, with a very chill attitude. From my perspective looking in, it can seem as life there is very sweet and stress-free. Copenhagen is not crazy big, and you don't have to sit in traffic or take an hour to travel to your next destination like my hometown, Los Angeles.
I spent my four days in CPH with none other than the boss himself, Rasmus. Rasmus owns a very unique store called Storm Copenhagen. Its located in the heart of CPH's shopping area, equivalent to Beverly Hills or West Hollywood. Storm is one of my favorite stores carrying brands such as Celine, Maison Margiela, OFF White, Sacai, 424 on Fairfax and so much more! You'll always find all the cool people and young kids picking up pieces or even just to hang. The kids give me a similar vibe to the youth on Fairfax in LA, sporting GOSHA, Wood Wood, ACNE Studios, SUPREME and Yeezy sneakers.
I attended a few shows like Han Kjøbenhavn and Henrik Vibskov. Two very popular Danish designers known for setting trends and always stepping out the box. The Han's show took place in this really dope hippie town called Free Christiania. In this town you can build sculptures, tag walls, skateboard, dine and even live there. I was told if you wanted to build a house there, it's all free land for you to. An Instagram friend I finally met in person shared her story of AirBnB'ing in Free Town Christiania. She experienced taking showers across the field, out in the open and being around many carefree people. The area does not allow any photos so this will have to be something you'll have to see on your own (sorry)!
CIFF Fashion Tradeshow was another destination during my trip. It's much like CAPSULE Tradshow where buyers and PR come to check out upcoming brands or ones that've been established. My big brother Guillermo, owner of 424 on Fairfax showcased his collection there as well. The youth from Paris, Los Angeles, Sweden and Denmark all showed up (hence the group photos above). We all range from DJ's, Rappers/Artists to fashion photographers. This same night we all went out to support Parisian DJ/ Artist and Adidas Tubular SS16 Influencer Kyu Steed at one of Copenhagen's most popular clubs called Sunday's. It was cold during my trip, but such an eye opening experience. Always meeting new people and going places makes me so happy! I ended my trip bike riding on a Sunday with Rasmus and his daughter Vera around the city. On my way out I had a nice hot dog and bottled water, exchanging all my Danish Kronos (coins) for American Money.
Hope you like the recap :-)
